Comprising close to 24,000 artefacts and archival
photographs, the permanent collection of the Musée des
Deux-Rives bears testimony to the social and industrial life
of the territory that today is known as the MRC Beauharnois-Salaberry.
Here are several items from the collection. For more information
or for details regarding the workshops on preventative conservation
and the gathering of personal memories, we can be reached at
(450) 370-4855.

what remains may tell its story.
HELP US KEEP THE MEMORY...
Would you like to help protect the industrial
and social heritage of the Beauharnois-Salaberry region? There
are two ways you can do this:
• The preserving of physical objects
Each year, hundreds of items and photographs
linked closely to our social and industrial history are lost
or simply thrown away. Contact your museum right away for some
easy preventive measures that can be taken at home.
If you
so desire, you may entrust your articles to the institution.
Whatever items are confided to the museum will be well cared
for and you will never lose track of them. Together, let's
preserve our heritage. Write
for more details!
• The gathering of personal memoirs (oral
heritage)
In 2004, the Musée des Deux-Rives began to solicit
the personal experiences of those having lived or who are still
living in the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield and Beauharnois region.
Our goal is to gather the memories (recordings) of those who
lived during the years preceding 1970. Presently, the years
previous to 1950 are prioritized. If you know someone who may
be interested to meet us, or if you yourself are that person,
please contact us.
